MYTH #1- DOCTORS WON’T TRY AS HARD TO SAVE YOUR LIFE IF THEY KNOW YOU ARE REGISTERED AS AN ORGAN DONOR.
Doctors focus on doing whatever they can to save the life at hand. You will be given the best care possible, and your organs won't be taken from your body until you are pronounced dead.
MYTH #2- IT IS AGAINST YOUR RELIGION.
All major religions, including Christianity, Buddhism, and Judaism support organ donation and see it as a final act of compassion and generosity.
MYTH #3- YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BE BURIED THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO.
Organ donors do not need to be cremated. They can be buried just like everyone else, and it is even possible to have open-casket funerals.
MYTH #4- THERE IS AN AGE LIMIT ON ORGAN DONATION.
People of all ages are in need of organs. There is no age limit. There have been successful transplants from people over the age of 80.
MYTH #5- YOUR FAMILY WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE COSTS OF THE TRANSPLANT.
You are only charged for any efforts to save your life. The recipient and their family are completely responsible for the costs of the organ transplant.
